BEING A TEACHER

Being an English teacher is a very special work. Some parents think English is not an important subject because they think they never need English. Obviously, that conception is transmitted to their son and some students say, “English what for? I am not a Gringo, I don’t need English”. So an English teacher must create conscience of the importance of the subject. When a family understands the necessity of learn English, students see the subject as something important and then they see English is not boring neither difficult.

In my philosophy of teaching the teacher have to teach according to the context and level of the students. One of the more important things is to motivate to the students. Teachers must know that motivation plays a role significant in the education, especially in the language teaching. If an English teacher motivates his/her students, they respond in a positive way. For example, if a student comes to the classroom with a little problem and the teacher treats him with respect, with affect and motivate him the student can forget just for a little his problems and moreover learn English.

With children is always useful the communicative approach and the TPR. Children learn using language not studying it, children should learn English enjoy it.

On the other hand, I believe that assessment must be taken by the student like something they need to improve showing what they have learnt. Students work on their own mistake. In my case when student are ready for the assessment they ask for it to me, because they know they learnt the topic given. Well, I hope I can foster language skills in my students.
