Lesson Plan (values for the classroom)

Duration: 80 minutes

Description: This lesson provides students with values for being working in the English classroom.

Goals:
1. To provide an opportunity for students to review essential values for the English classes. Rules to follow in the English classroom.
2. To provide the teacher enough values and rules. Thus, students do their best and for the teacher will be easier work. From there, the teacher can choose the value to reinforce in case of being necessary.
3. To reinforce learning through the use of values.

Objectives: Students will be able to:
1. To identify values.
2. To talk about values.
3. To give examples “how can I be ________?”

Materials:
Photocopies with reading about values.
Computers with Internet access.

Procedure:
Reading of the photocopies.
The teacher will divide the class in groups of three students.
The teacher will distribute copies of values to each group (a value per group).
The teacher will read aloud the reading of the values.
Students discuss for 5 minutes about the importance of the value.
Each group will show an example of “How can I be (tolerant) _________?” 5 minutes per group.
The teacher will summarize what has been done in class today, touching on the review of the different values worked.
The teacher asks about what the students learned.

Assessment:
Work with the computer.
The teacher will give different pages on the web where students can find out readings about the values.
Students will read the pages and complete the information asked.
Students e-mail to the teacher the work done in the computer.

It is a great lesson plan!
I like it because the language teachers almost always focus their class in linguistic or communicative competence. The values are a good topic to develop a class, it has communicative and social aspects that can improve students’ competence.
