MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES AND LEARNING STYLES

I consider important to know about those topics because we as teachers have to be in a constant improving, and so, become better teachers. If a teacher takes at least a little bit of those theories and he uses them in his classroom he will improve in the field of the teaching.

Learning styles refer to three kinds of learning. Each student learns in different ways. The three learning styles are: Visual, auditory and kinesthetic. According to the student’s learning styles teacher plans the lesson. Finally, I think that every single lesson plan should have different activities for different learning styles. Thus, students learn in different ways and each one will learn in his proper way, in his learning style.

On the other hand, multiple intelligences refer to the existence of eight sorts of intelligences: linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal and naturalistic intelligence. The author of the theory Howard Gardner suggests that each student has different levels of several intelligences. But, just one intelligence becomes the most developed. For Gardner “each person has a unique cognitive profile”.

To sum up, both educational theories are in certain way similar and they show that exist different approaches for learning and teaching, and teachers have to take into account those issues and work with them in their classrooms.

I completely agree, we as teachers have to improve the way we teach. You said "every single lesson plan should have different activities for different learning styles". That's true, you must develop activities thinking of children's needs and interests.
